Troy: Dominic you have an interesting story, what can you say about your journey to where you are now in your career?

Dominic: The journey I've been has been  a crazy one I'd say. I've gone through a lot and experienced a lot and I feel that the adversity that I've experienced thus far has made me who I am today whether it be on or off the field. Also, my bad for the late response, it's my birthday and I was hanging out with family all day yesterday.

T: All good playa!!! Happy Birthday! Was some of that adversity caused by the struggle of recruiting? Did you have any doubts???

DC: Yeah, I was pretty doubtful that I wouldn’t ever get a D1 offer. Mainly because my junior year I wasn’t the greatest. I weighed 330 pounds with a 6.7 40 yard dash and no athleticism to show whatsoever. So I can say I never truly saw  football as a path for me after my junior season. But I worked super hard this past year and lost 50 pounds to make my D1 dream a reality and even after working that hard, there was still a lot of doubt. People would tell me that I still wasn't good enough and that I still wasn't athletic or fast enough to play Defensive Line, the position that I had my heart set on playing. People told me I would only get an offer if I played O-line. Thankfully, I ain’t listen to any of them, I grinded hard for what I wanted, and I achieved the things I wanted to achieve. If I would have listened to any of the doubters, I would not be in the position I am in today.

T: That’s incredible and it’s amazing at such a young age to have such a dedication to your craft. There are people in their 20’s and older,  who don’t have that dedication and that's a great thing to have. Someone you worked with, this person I think is a legend in San Jose, Jabari Carr, what did you learn from him???

DC: Jabari is the one of the first people who really got into my ear about how to start on the recruitment path last year. He told me about going to camps and how to set my film up to make it look good to colleges and I thank him a lot for doing that. He also introduced me to coach Brandon Younger... life changing moment because me and Brandon worked 3 - 4 times a week throughout the pandemic and I really credit him for the change in speed and helping me get  the film I needed to put content on Twitter to help my recruitment. Plus he invited me to Xclusive’s Bay Area 100. Before then I wasn’t even on anyone’s radar until that camp film, it got 7400+ views and that's when I was noticed. Between Coaches Younger and Carr calling Brandon Huffman I was given 2 stars during the pandemic... Crazy.

T: That’s dope Dom!!!! Having people in your corner like that is always a big deal especially when others doubt you. Last question... with your commitment just announced what are you excited about moving forward???

DC: Graduating on Dec. 18, I was approved to graduate early, and hitting college first week of Jan. I get a 6 month head start in training with the new NCAA rule change, we’re awarded a whole extra season to redshirt without loss of eligibility. If possible I’ll be playing in the spring game in the spring as well. Bittersweet because my Senior SZN is happening but I’m opting out to leave for college early. I will miss that last season and my teammates.... and I will have never got to play under Coach Carr since he was JV coach last year and just got pulled up this year.

T: Man I appreciate you answering these questions bro, I really look forward to what you do in the future because you’re not just talented but you’re smart and I can see you going far in not just football!!!
